Key Account Manager Public Authorities
I´ve spent more than 10 years working in the ICT sector and built up my experience in the Consulting services applied to European Institutions and Internal Organisation. I’m now working as a Key Account Manager in the Sales department, helping my customers to define and benchmark their ICT strategies. This means it´s all about servicing demanding clients in the best and most effective possible way – they are the centre around which my job gravitates. I´m always on the move, and that´s exactly why I´m so pleased with the New World of Work.

NWOW is for Agility (Part 1)

30 March 2011

We all know that a cheetah has the ability to accelerate from 0 to over 100km/h in 3 seconds !

How fast could we accelerate in our professional environment and reach full speed whenever we are facing with an unexpected heavy workload.
Apparently everybody does agree that time is our biggest driver and enemy in our everyday work. Agility should then mean being able to move quickly and lightly. In other words focus on the work itself, not on all these little time consuming administrative and logistic tasks.

I’ve spent the last 4 weeks leading a large offer (+40.000 copiers with associated support services) during which we had to work with multiple partners, located in different locations and countries; everybody focused on one single goal - select the best fitted products and setup a Pan-European delivery and maintenance service -

With such large opportunity and limited time to answer (few weeks), we had no rooms for delays. Good timing was essential and any other logistic tasks unwanted (i.e. book meeting rooms, conferences bridges, access badge, etc..). The clock was ticking and stress went up as we were approaching the final deadline.

During this very intensive but so interesting period, I better grasped our “New Way of Work” (NWOW) which exhibited most of its benefits. Basically we were able to get the job done with a virtual team of 20 people. We did around 80 meetings and submitted our final 900 pages offer in due time.
All this, without having to prepare our logistic in advance and without wasting time in the setup of the required IT infrastructure (i.e. collaboration sites, access rights, etc..).

Before sharing my most interesting findings, tell me how you think this could have been achieved ?

My next few blogs will focus on the practical details and techniques we’ve used to Get the Thing Done !

Enjoy your day
Denis
