Industry Corporate Business Sales Manager
I am a Sales Manager for the Telco and Media customers and some strategic global Industry accounts at Getronics. It is extremely rewarding to work with a limited number of key accounts. It allows me to spend time better understanding their business and challenges, and to detect ways to support them by means of IT technology and services. All with the aim to improve the productivity of their employees or to decrease operational costs and have a positive impact on their profit or revenue. This means I bring value to my customers and become a trusted business partner for them.

Working in bath robe again?

17 March 2011

10.30am. My wife calls out from the hall 'Peter, get dressed now. I expect the energy team any moment.'
'OK, let me finish this call first' I respond. We want to push down our energy bill and have asked some experts to give us some advice. So I decided to work from home this morning in case they would have some questions my wife cannot answer.

Anyway, so I started early this morning, have had two conf calls already and called a few customers. I know I can catch some of them early in traffic, when they are heading to their office. I avoid video conf calls in the morning, because I don't want people to see me in my bathrobe at this time of the day ;)

You would be surprised how many of your daily meetings you can do virtually, avoiding unnecessary commutes and loss of productivity. In addition I enjoy starting off early, relaxed, with a good cup of coffee, all tools and information digitally at hand, ...

In less then an hour I'll be leaving for Brussels and travel will take me an hour less to get there. I'll have less stress and there is no reason to feel guilty as I already did quit a piece of work and it looks as if I'll be leaving late today anyway.

Let's be realistic, clearly not all days can be organized like this, but it feels good that I can. It feels good my employer trusts me.
Remember! Regular colleague and customer facing remains key. Never tend to extremes, because it will affect your results negatively in the end!

Hope you are as lucky as I am. Happy nwow ;)
